Tamlyn-profile-photoReflecting upon my journey in education I realise that teaching for me started when I was in high school. I am a self confessed geek who loved learning and was a natural at helping my peers. After leaving school my love for sport led me to coaching an under 7s hockey team at a local primary school in South Africa.

My family then decided to make the bold move and immigrate to New Zealand. Within a few months of living in New Zealand I decided to pursue my passion and study a Bachelor of Education at the University of Auckland. I spent my first 5 years teaching Year 2 to Year 4 at Baverstock Oaks School. During my time at Baverstock Oaks School I was fortunate to receive a sabbatical to fulfill some personal goals. I spent a summer in the United States of America as a camp counselor leading outdoor education as well as volunteering with an NGO teaching English in Cambodia.

Most recently, I taught at Redoubt North School for three years. Teaching New Entrants to Year 2. In June 2016 I received a full scholarship to study a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice focusing on Digital and Collaborative learning. This course gave me the skills to unpack educational research, delve deeper into leadership, understand the elements necessary for leading change initiatives together with using digital technologies to develop the skills and knowledge students will need in the 21st century.

Teaching has been a passionate pursuit for me. My aim is to always provide the best experience, setting up my students for success in reaching their personal goals.
